When should I replace a heater wick?
- For Peak performance, yearly wick replacement is recommended
- Heater should burn clean and bright at all times
- Replace when carbon build up is causing difficulty to raise and lower the wick control knok
- Never force the wick control, it should always raise and lower freely
- Replace wick when excessive smoke and odour are present
- Replace wick when water and any other contaminates are found in fuel
- Ensure you replace wick as stated in instruction manual for your heater
How do I make a new heater wick last longer?
- Use only Clean kerosene, preferably with no coloring
- Do not use old Kerosene
- Always allow wick to absorb kerosene for one or two hours before lighting; this is also recommended if heater has run out of fuel
- Store the kerosene in a clear plastic container, which allows you to monitor the condition of the fuel on a regular basis
- Keep carbon build up off top of wick
- When heater is not in use, remove kerosene before storing heater
